Making the Business Case Toolkit

Our Making the Business Case toolkit includes six flexible communications tools that can be adapted to local issues to inform, “tee up” or comprise a presentation to business leaders:

  • Why Early Learning Matters Power Point presentation, with graphs, charts, speaker notes & sources cited (and drop-in policy slides you can use to set up a conversation around key early learning policies)
  • Why Early Learning Matters brochure, which you can use as a leave-behind or mailer. It’s designed for commercial printing as a four-color, 4x9” tri-fold with localizable front & back panel adaptable for your content. Also available in Word version (color and bxw) if you need to localize yourself and print off your own computer.
  • Born Learning Champion Action Tips, 19 letter-sized tip sheets with specific action steps for leaders in certain categories (e.g. employers, building trades, health care, unions, law enforcement, senior citizens, libraries, museums, law enforcement etc.). Adapted by Nina Sazer O’Donnell from Families and Work Institute’s Early Childhood Action Tips. Can be localized and used as individual handouts or as a packet with localizable cover.
  • Birth to Five Policy Alliance Resource Library, an online compendium of resources specially selected to help your business outreach, provided by the Birth to Five Policy Alliance, a group of the nation’s top organizations with a focus early learning.
  • User Guide, with suggested ideas & strategies to get the most out of these tools, compiled by seasoned veterans on the United Way Success By 6 team.
  • An interactive flash video that lays out the impact of early learning on a child’s development – in an interactive way – that can be emailed as a desktop outreach tool.
